This is the begining of a new chapter for the Pretty Woman (and me). I launched my website this week. Yay!
Let me take you back a bit. The store has been around for almost 20 years. It was Gloria’s Boutique and then the Pretty Woman. In July 2007, I bought the store from a family friend that was retiring. I can do this, it’s all about clothes, right? bahahahaha – wrong. With a background in medicine, I had a lot to learn. My sister is a CFO and my brother a computer wiz, so I have to give a lot of credit to them. My whole family has been extremely supportive, thanx guys.
I figured the time was right, my kids were grown, I was divorced and I just sold my house. The first thing was to quit my job (there goes the money) and dive right into this. I went on a buying trip – way too much fun, and picked up some great new fashions. The mannequins’ outfits changed regularly and people came in out of curiosity, but not enough people. I decided to move toward the big city. (Build it and they will come…..not necessarily). The city was full of working women and this was the clothing line I had picked up – business casual. Still not much interest, hmmmm.
Okay, out of my comfort zone now. I needed to do some networking. Things improved. Then came the election and everyone stopped spending, at least up here. Business dropped off. More ideas, sales, after hours parties, etc. and then came the dreaded road construction. Awesome when it is done, but dreadful for business, and for months! When the chips are all down, there is no way to go but up!
Now I am looking to save the dream, so I started with the website and shall go on from here sharing the road to hope, health, beauty, fashion and prosperity that are lined up for me! Stay tuned.
